The electro-magnetic coupler is the key part of the third generation VSCF wind power-adjustable speed synchronous generator and it is intrinsically an induction motor with a rotative stator and a rotor.The equivalent circuit of the electro-magnetic coupler was deduced and the energy conversion and torque were analyzed.This article finally proves that the torque and mechanical power of the electro-magnetic coupler can be changed by adjusting the extent and speed of rotating magnetic field.
