During several years of teaching on forced commutation circuit in Power Electronics for undergraduate students ,some common misunderstanding problems have been found on the students ,however ,the textbook does not provide detailed explanation and verification on this point . This paper illustrates the operation principle of thyristor based inductive coupling forced commutation power circuit .The corresponding critical condition for the by-pass diode is analyzed ,and the simulation results for verification are also provided ,which would be beneficial for the students to deeply grasp the knowledge points .
