1.1 Port management

1.1.1 Enable/Disable port

A. Scope

The Purpose of this test procedure is to verify the enable/disable function of the port

B. Testing diagram

 

C. Procedure steps

Step 1. Connect LAN cable between PC and the port 1 of 3700-28N

Step 2. Connect the console cable

Step 3. Set to factory default of the switch

Step 4. Login to Supervisor mode

Switch> enable

Switch# show interface fastEthernet 0/1

FastEthernet 0/1 is up,lines protocol is up (connected)

Step 5. Entry configuration mode & disable port 1

Switch# config

Switch_config# interface fastEthernet 0/1

Switch_config_f0/1# shutdown

Switch_config_f0/1# exit

Switch_config# show interface f0/1

FastEthernet 0/1 is administratively down,lines protocol is down (disabled)

….

Step 6. Enable port 1

Switch_config# interface fastEthernet 0/1

Switch_config_f0/1# no shutdown

Switch_config# show interface f0/1

FastEthernet 0/1 is up lines protocol is down (notconnect)
