The development of intelligent transportation systems （ITS） requires more functions and higher performance than before. To meet these requirements and detect the traffic condition more efficiently and in real time, this paper designs a new system, which is based on the TMS320C6424 DSP, and describes both the hardware and software design of the circuit in detail. It presents the difficulties in the circuit design and provides the solutions to them.
