Considering that the automobile steering system directly affects the stability, driving comfort and active safety of automobile operation ,a new generation of the steering-by-wire (SBW) system was introduced. SBW system cancelled the traditional mechanical linkage between steering wheel and steered wheels. The characteristics of linear steering system and traditional steering system were compared. The structure, principle, key component and circuit design of steering control assembly systematically were mainly introduced. The purpose and significance of the research on the steering control assembly were analyzed. Some problems are discussed that need to be solved in the future development , including safety and reliability, cost and control strategy.
