Migration Guide from Kinetis to i.MX RT(应用手册)

This document provides an overview of the differences between the Kinetis and i.MX RT chips and helps to migrate from Kinetis to i.MX RT. The migration between these chips may require software changes. This document describes the changes required to migrate from Kinetis to i.MX RT.

Because the Arm® Cortex®-M0+ cores are targeted for a different field, use the Cortex-M4 and Cortex-M7 cores. This document focuses at the Kinetis Cortex-M4 (Kinetis K series, V4) and Cortex-M7 (Kinetis V5) chips.

i.MX RT 1050 is used as an example in this document.

2. Chip comparison

This section compares the main features of the Kinetis KK, KV, and i.MX RT chips.

2.1. i.MX RT overview

The i.MX RT chip is based on the Cortex-M7 core and operates at speeds of up to 600 MHz to provide high CPU performance and the best real-time response. It has these features:

• Cortex-M7-based processor operating at up to 600 MHz.

• 512-KB on-chip RAM which can be flexibly configured as the TCM or general-purpose on-chip RAM.

• The advanced power-management module with DCDC and LDO reduces the complexity of an external power supply and simplifies power sequencing.

• Various memory interfaces, including SDRAM, raw NAND flash, NOR flash, SD/eMMC, and quad SPI.

• A wide range of other interfaces for the connection of peripherals, such as WLAN, Bluetooth®, GPS, displays, and camera sensors.

• Lots of audio and video features, including LCD, basic 2D graphics, camera interface, SPDIF, and I2S audio interface.

• Lots of peripheral modules, such as SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, FlexTimers,
