基于数字信号处理器(DSP)TMS320VC5416和复杂可编程逻辑器件(CPLD)的嵌入式车牌识别系统的硬件设计,利用视频处理芯片SAA7111作为视频A/D,在CPLD的控制下将采集到的图像数据写入帧存储器中,DSP对图像数据进行实时分析处理。采用"乒乓"存储结构,实现了图像数据的采集和处理的并行运行。识别结果通过串口传到上位机或者保存在E2PROM中,实现了车牌识别系统脱机、联机工作,在实时高速图像处理系统中有广泛的工程技术应用前景。

The hardware design of embedded license plate recognition system based on digital signal processor(DSP) TMS320VC5416 and complex programmable logic device(CPLD) is introduced in the paper.The system makes use of the video input processor SAA7111 to accomplish A/D conversion of video signal,and the data is saved into frame memory under the control of CPLD.The real-time processing and analysis of image data are conducted by DSP.The parallel running of image data gathering and processing was implemented through the structure of "ping-pong" memory.The recognition result was translated to host or saved in EEPROM through serial port.The off-line and on-line working of the license plate recognition system has been realized.
