With the system clock frequency developing, the skin effect is more obvious and also brings more insertion loss in the field of high-frequency. Therefore, copper surface roughness has been one of the key effects to signal transmission quality. This paper firstly introduced some theories about insertion loss and skin effect, and then discussed the effects on several factors related to skin effect such as roughness, oxide treatments and surface finish treatments.
